Packaging Sleeve that Fits well Seafood

Source: The Skipper
Being a freak of seafood you must have hunted in the supermarket for various kinds of these delicacies: shellfish, shrimps, squid, hake, clam… they are freshly supplied or frozen in cans or trays as some kinds of ready-to-cook seafood meals.
Due to the feature of being perishable, most of the ready-to-cook seafood is frozen and then processed with vacuum packaging (skin pack, for example), while most of those ready-to-eat ones are stored in cans.
The role the packaging sleeve plays here is to enact as an additional packaging for advertisement, information display, and branding, given the fact either the cans or the skin-packed trays are pretty spartan in terms of appearance and provide few spaces for images and information.
ESTRENA™ Wraparound Sleever for Seafood with Packaging Sleeve
Food processing facilities usually require equipment to be of a high standard in terms of resistance to rust, and corrosion, and hygienic structure, apart from being water-proof and dust-proof. All these requirements are put forward with regard to applicable standards, and regulations, as well as for food safety. And regardless of whether the equipment is for processing or primary and secondary packaging, a structure with excellent accessibility for maintenance and cleaning is a must.
All of these obligatory features make those cheap and poor-made packaging machines in the Chinese market inadequate to serve in a seafood processing facility. However, from ÉLITER Packaging Machinery we give a breakthrough shot!

The ESTRENA™ Wraparound Sleever employs a robust and solid SUS construction and is of aesthetic and ergonomic structure that offers excellent accessibility for maintenance and cleaning. We offer optional as well as to wash-down to IP65, a level at which the machine will be sufficient ingress protection level for most of the food-grade application situations.
What are IP Ratings?
Upon supplying equipment and packaging machinery to clients in the food industry or sometimes the drink industry, or in case you are a professional from the mentioned ones, understanding the IP rating, an acronym of “Ingress Protection” will be an inevitable and essential part of your job.

The fact is anyone who works at a food and beverage manufacturing or processing facility would have the idea clearly of why understanding IP ratings is of the utmost importance for their sectors. Mentioned facilities are usually with a nightmare-ish environment for devices, equipment, and machinery, which are likely to be with lots of materials smeared and spilled around, or imagine that of a seafood processing facility where wastes tend to be corrosive, temperatures may be set at a relatively low level and may turn to be problematic for some equipment.
IP Ratings or Ingress Protection ratings are terms used to evaluate enclosures’ sealing effectiveness against dust and moisture.
An IP rating consists of the abbreviation and then two digits where the former stands for the resistance to dust ingression and the latter for water ingression, see an example of IP 65. The first digit ranges from 0 to 6 while the second can be from 0 to 9.
Packaging Sleeve for Skin Packed Seafood in Trays
Trays of seafood are fed to sleever from the thermoformer where the containments are tightly skin-packed. The feature that slim film covers the containment so tightly that leaves a lot of wrinkles making it not an ideal surface for display and information, for which extra packaging is required.

The sleever then places cardboard sleeves on each tray of seafood received, slides and wraps the sleeve around them, and secures the packaging with hot melt glue on the bottom. The package is usually not totally covered by the sleeve yet partially wrapped to offer a product view.

Cans have been, for a long time, the trusted practice and a commonly recognized tradition for seafood packaging, among which there are tuna, crabs, salmons, sardines, and many others. Cans turn to be round shaped, and thus wrapping them with sleeves calls for a further method of securing. The cans, no matter in a single package or in form of multipack, are usually wrapped by a piece of carton sleeve with rim or edge-lock to provide security.
